Good morning, everyone. My name is Sakshi Rana. I am here to present a speech on Independence Day. Before I start, I wish you all a very Happy Independence Day. Today we have all come together to celebrate the 76th Independence Day of India. This year, the government has launched “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” to honor and celebrate 75 years of Independence. It is a proud feeling to be a part of an independent nation. Here in this nation, we have fundamental rights like freedom of speech and expression.
On August 15, 1947, after a long battle with British rule, India got independence. They ruled us for more than 200 years. Friends, this freedom is a result of the sacrifices made by thousands of freedom fighters. They fought against the English men selflessly. Mahatama Gandhi, the father of our nation, fought against British rule without committing violence. Leaders like Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev, Rajguru, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, Chandrashekhar Azad, Sardar Patel, Lala Lajpat Rai, and many more, also created the path for India’s freedom. We should salute them and always remember their struggle to create the independent nation for us that we are living in today.
From the day of Independence till today, India has made its mark on the world in every field. Today, India has become one of the fastest-growing economies in the world. We have excelled in the fields of science, technology, agriculture, education, literature, sports, etc. But friends, it is also a fact that crime, corruption, violence, terrorism, poverty, unemployment, and illiteracy are also growing. Before the British left India, they divided our diverse nation into castes, colors, and languages. These differences are eating away at the glory of India. It was the dream of our freedom fighters to see all the Indians stand united after Independence. We should all come together to fulfill their dreams and make India a better place.
Our beloved Prime Minister, Narendra Modi Ji, has launched a campaign called “Har Ghar Tiranga” to unite all of us once again. On this day, we should all come together and raise the flag to honor the freedom fighters and soldiers who are fighting for us at the borders.
In the end, once again, I wish you all a very Happy Independence Day. Jai Hind, Jai Bharat.
